Lendlease Building Contractors, in partnership with FineForm, was awarded a $365 million contract for critical works at HMAS Stirling and the Australian Maritime Complex in Western Australia, a collaboration that merged Lendlease’s project management expertise with FineForm’s concrete and formwork services.
Commencing later in the year, the project aimed to support up to 750 construction jobs, highlighting a commitment to local industry participation with an 85% local subcontracting target.
This effort not only aimed to strengthen Australia’s defense infrastructure but also focused on constructing new living accommodations and a specialized training center at HMAS Stirling for Navy personnel.
The initiative was geared towards operation and maintenance training for the Arafura Class Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs), with the Australian Maritime Complex playing a crucial role in the vessels’ operational maintenance and support.
The deployment of the Arafura Class OPVs, especially HMAS Arafura, marked a significant advancement in Australia’s naval capabilities, with expectations set for an operational deployment in 2022, enhancing support for the Navy’s Perth-based vessels and the growing needs of Navy personnel at HMAS Stirling.
